FV Francis Patrick
Also known as the Patrick and the Wheelbarrow
This French 24m long diesel engined side trawler was built by Krebs in France in 1953 as the Melpomene, renamed Francis Patrick and registered in Plymouth as PH140.
On the 13th July 1968 she caught fire and sank while under tow but the crew were rescued by helicopter.
Visiting the Wreck
The wreck was located on 17th July 1968 and was still visible in 1994.
A survey by Plymouth University and the SHIPS Project in 2013 showed this to be at 50 15.909N 004 12.940W, the wreck is 11m long by 4m wide with a high spot in the middle 3m x 3m in size, and a small 2m x 2m target lies 15m away from main wreck
