Scupper (09A09)

This scupper was one of four found on the inshore Coronation site off Penlee Point. A scupper was a round, lead-lined channel used to take water off the deck and over the side of the ship.

The main part of the scupper is a 77mm diameter tube formed from 5mm thick lead sheet with a welded seam and a chamfered lower end. On the top of the tube is a flange formed from sheet and attached to the tube. The scupper tube has been slightly flattened and the flange bent upwards on two sides.
