Swivel Gun (09A01)
Incomplete wrought iron swivel gun found during dredging work off the Bear's Head in the Cattewater. The internal staves that form the barrel were originally covered with hoops and bands which have now corroded away. The muzzle is complete, has a flat face and includes a central foresight, one band remains behind the muzzle ring and another in front of the trunnion hoop. The swivel yoke is complete. Only part of the chamber holder remains.
Remaining length overall 1220mm, external bore 128mm, internal bore 55mm, estimated stave thickness 12.5mm
